  • What sort of profession in the wizarding world would you choose and why? I’d want to do something with writing, so I’d most likely be a reporter for the Daily Prophet. I started college as a journalism major, and while I’m not anymore, I still think it’d be amazing to be a reporter in the wizarding world. I’d get to travel all around and be an eye witness to all sorts of exciting magical happenings.

  • If you could teach one class at Hogwarts, what would it be and why? I really wouldn’t want to be a teacher; I don’t think I have the patience or the energy for it. If I had no choice, though, I’d take Care of Magical Creatures. I love animals and used to want to be a vet, and I’d definitely relish the opportunity to work closely with mythical beasts - hippogriffs and unicorns and thestrals, oh my! I’d also find it refreshing to be able to teach outside rather than in a stuffy classroom.

  • This year, The TriWizard Tournament is being held once again and you're of age. Do you put your name in the Goblet? Why or why not? No. First of all, there’s no way my name would ever be chosen; I have all the athletic ability of a piece of dryer lint. Even if you disregard the fact that the Goblet chooses only those most capable, though, I hate being the center of attention, and I’d be terrified of screwing up and disappointing my whole school. Oh yeah, and dying - that wouldn’t really appeal to me, either. I’d wholeheartedly support whoever was chosen as champion, though.

  • If you could choose your animagus form, what would it be and why? As overused as it is, probably a cat. I think it suits my personality well. I'm curious and enjoy exploring, but I also enjoy just loafing around. I'm solitary, but I enjoy the company of certain people. I can be lovable, but I can also be vicious if you piss me off. Yup, I think I'd be a cat.

  • What HP character do you identify with most and why? Gah, I always struggle with this question. I used to think it was Hermione, but really, Hermione and I don’t actually have much in common aside from book smarts. I love to read, and I’m a good student, but I’m nowhere near as studious as she is (in fact, I have an extremely difficult time making myself study at all), I’m not a know-it-all, I don’t participate in class, and I’m a lot more easygoing and less Type A than her. I was stamped as Ginny at wizardingworld_, but I don’t see much of myself in her, either - well, maybe the Ginny of the earlier books, but definitely not the Ginny of OOTP and HBP.

But I still have to answer the question, so I should probably shut up about who I don’t identify with, huh? The people at stamped_hp apparently see me as Neville, and I can understand why, so I’ll go with him. I’m shy, unconfident, and a bit awkward at times, which has gotten me teased quite a bit in school. Most of the time, I feel pretty useless - I’m not really exceptionally good at anything, except for writing, which is kind of like Neville with his talent for Herbology. I’m not the bravest person in the world, but I have a quiet sort of determination and I’m not afraid to stand up for my beliefs when it really matters. I’d do anything for the few close friends I have, including confront them and try to dissuade them from doing something that could potentially get them hurt/in trouble.

  • What would you see if you looked into the Mirror of Erised? Myself as a more confident, optimistic person, pursuing my dreams and not letting anything stand in my way. I'd be a successful writer - people would be sending me letters daily to tell me how much they loved my books, and I'd travel all over the globe to autograph them. However, I'd also have a nice house somewhere quiet to come home to, with a wonderful husband and beautiful children, whom I'd read my books to at night while they listened in rapture.

  • If you won a million dollars, how would you spend it? Definitely travel. I'd take my family and one or two friends and go everywhere. The idea of getting away from home for a while and experiencing foreign cultures fascinates me. I'd be particularly excited to see Europe.

  • What was your ideal job as a kid? Has that changed? What is your ideal job now? I had a few ideal jobs. The ones I stuck with the longest were vet (as mentioned), lawyer, and Broadway actress. I ruled out vet because I couldn’t stand having to put animals to sleep, lawyer because I hate public speaking, and Broadway actress because I’m too shy and just don’t think I have the talent. Deep down, though, I’ve always known I wanted to be a writer. It’s the only thing I’m both passionate about and talented at. I want to write books that will enchant and inspire people the way my favorite books have done for me.

  • If you were able to invent one spell, potion, or charm, what would it do, what would you use it for or how would you use it, and what would you call it? Ooh, a spell that lets you enter the worlds of your favorite books and/or movies. I’d heart being able to literally escape the stress and boredom of daily life and go on adventures in Middle-earth, Narnia, and Hogwarts. I’d call it Introfabula (combination of the Latin words for "enter" and "story").

  • If you were to face a boggart, what would it turn into? And what does it turn into when you throw the counter-spell, Riddikulus? I’d normally say it would turn into the incarnation of death, but lately, I’ve come to realize that there’s something I’m more afraid of than simply dying: dying without having really lived. I’m not too satisfied with the way I’ve lived my life up to this point. I’ve always been a bit of a loner and a recluse, and while I’m usually content to be alone, there are times when I find myself thinking about everything I’m missing out on by avoiding people. I want to get out there and face the world so I can accomplish everything I want to accomplish while I’m here - go places, see things, meet people, make all my dreams come true. I have a feeling death won’t seem quite so bad if I manage this. This probably sounds like a contradiction to my TriWizard answer, but, well, none of my dreams require me to fight a dragon or breathe underwater (unless I decide to try scuba diving someday - I guess I might).

So, to answer the question, I guess my boggart would be myself, old and frail, wasting away in bed alone, in a room with bare walls - no pictures of grandkids, nothing. Riddikulus, and poof! My elderly self is in an episode of The Golden Girls (which is, IMO, the greatest show ever on TV), seated at a table with friends. We’re pigging out on junk food, telling dirty jokes and stories from the good old days, and just living it up despite the fact that we’re not as young as we used to be.

  • What do you look for in a friend? Someone who shares at least some of my interests; that makes conversation a lot easier. Someone who's honest, who knows who they are and doesn't try to be anyone else. Someone with an open mind, who's willing to try new things. Someone who's dependable, who I can share my secrets with and ask for advice when I need it. Someone with a good sense of humor, who makes me laugh and knows how to laugh at themselves.

  • What trait most annoys you about other people? I can't stand people who try to force their opinions on others and attack anyone who disagrees with them. No opinion is a fact, but it is a fact that no two people are ever going to agree on everything. Personally, I'm grateful for that, because the world would be a dreadfully boring place otherwise. I don't see why people with differing opinions can't debate maturely and respectfully instead of resorting to ignorant and childish behavior.

  • What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?

    1. Intelligent - I'm not a genius, but I think I'm a pretty smart cookie. I've always gotten good grades, and I have a certain talent for absorbing knowledge, especially if it relates to English or a foreign language.
    2. Easygoing - I'm a pretty laid-back, nonconfrontational person. I can usually keep a cool head in situations where others would flip out.
    3. Honest - I tell the truth, regardless of the consequences. No good ever comes from lying.
    4. Trustworthy - My friends know they can always count on me. I'm always willing to listen to their problems and help in any way I can, and if they need a secret kept, I'll take it to the grave.
    5. Funny - People who don't know me very well probably don't think of me as having a sense of humor, but I'm a lot more relaxed around my family and friends and a lot more prone to goofing off. I love laughing, and I love making people laugh.

  • What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?

    1. Aloof - I'm not a very social person. I'm always uncomfortable around new people, and I usually keep to myself unless someone talks to me first, which I think causes me to appear a bit standoffish to others.
    2. Stubborn - If my mind is set on something, I usually won't budge. I'm not unwilling to listen to others' opinions, but I can't stand not having the last word in an argument - I always think I'll be showing weakness if I back down. I also have a bit of a tendency to ignore authority - if I don't want to do something, I won't do it.
    3. Indecisive - I may be stubborn once my mind is made up, but that usually takes an eternity. I'll get caught up in thinking about all the possible consequences my choices could have and bounce back and forth from one option to another a zillion times.
    4. Hot-tempered - Despite my usually calm, cool, and collected demeanor, there are moments when the most insignificant thing can set me off. In those moments, I tend to throw tantrums that would be expected from someone 10 years younger than me and humiliate myself. They're rare and usually don't last long, but I'm not proud of them.
    5. Procrastinator - Blowing off homework assignments until the last minute is usually the only way I can motivate myself to get them done. If I try to do them early, I always get distracted. I can't make myself concentrate on something that doesn't interest me. The pressure of knowing I have to get it done right now or I'll fail the assignment finally makes me break down and complete it to the best of my ability.
