If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be? It's a little generic, but honestly, I would want everyone to be more open-minded. I think that so many of the world's problems are caused but intolerance and people simply not giving other people and ideas a chance. If people where more open-minded and accepting of others
What makes a person respectable? I respect a person who respects me, and who shows respect and kindness to others, particularly those they don't really have to. For example, I have more respect for someone who treats everyone with the same consideration; from the person who works at the news paper stand to their boss , than I do for someone who sucks up to others. Also, someone not afraid to stand up for themselves, without preaching to people they disagree with.
What do you look for in a friend? I guess first and foremost, someone I can connect to on random things, someone with whom I have a lot in common, but who is not exactly like me. Also someone with a sense of adventure who will do the kind of crazy stuff you don’t want to do by yourself, with me.
What are your hobbies? Well I am a pretty voracious reader, although when I am in school I don’t have as much time for fun reading as I’d like. I also love watching movies, particularly smart and/or quirky comedies. I don’t generally have the patience for really intensive craft projects, but I do love to knit, probably because I can do it while reading or watching movies at the same time lol.
Have or would you give time and money to a charity? I went to Catholic elementary and high school where we were required to do a certain number of community service hours. I continue to dedicate time to charity, and hopefully when I am no longer a starving student, I will have the opportunity to donate money as well.
What is the one thing you would most like to accomplish? Probably to invent to discover something. Either that or write a book; something that would be a contribution, which would add to the world. I like the idea of having the opportunity to affect people’s lives, even if it’s not very many people.
Who is your role model? Cliché but honestly, it is my mother; she is such a hard worker, which I really admire because I am a little lazy sometimes. She owns her own business and is a very strong and very independent woman and has always tried to instill my sister and me with self-confidence. Also my dad because he is a musician and I admire the way he follows his heart and his instinct and doesn’t have to be practical all the time because I don’t think that being safe or practical will always bring you the most happiness or fulfillment.
What trait most annoys you about other people? I hate it when people speak to me condescendingly. As a kid, it was always my pet peeve when people would speak to me like I was dumb, or couldn’t understand (one of the things I love about J.K. Rowling is her belief in how underestimated children are) and this still really irritates me. I also have a really difficult time with people who are disingenuous or who change themselves to “fit in” and with people who lack originality. People who are quirky and are true to themselves are always more interesting and fun and being yourself shows courage and character.
What do you want to do for a living? This is one I get asked a lot, and I don’t really have a specific answer. I want to do something creative, but with a technical or practical side, like writing, journalism, or something in the movie industry.
If your friend was attacked (by a person, animal, or (in the magic world) beast), what would you do? I would do whatever I could to protect them of course! My karate skills may be lacking, but I’m not going to stand there and let someone I care about get hurt! If they were being attacked in a non-physical way, I would stand-up for them in whatever way possible.
Would you ever use an Unforgivable Curse for any reason? If there was absolutely no other way or option, I think that I would. I guess that this is they kind of thing you could never really know without having that sort of experience, but if I had to, I would.
What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?
1)Independence- I’ve always been a very independent person, and I think that this has helped me learn to trust myself and take chances. It has also helped me to be my own person and to remain true to myself. I like being self-reliant and doing things myself.
2)Intelligence- I like to think I am a pretty intelligent person. I understand things quickly and I have a lot of nature curiosity and desire to learn.
3)Sense of Humor-I also like to think I am pretty funny, and people have said it is true. I’m very personable and love to make people laugh.
4)Loyalty- I am very loyal to anything I am attached to, people, organizations, and ideas.
5)Persistence- When I decide I really, really want something, I can be very persistent (probably to the point of annoyance to others hehe). If something isn’t worth trying hard for, them what is the point?
What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?
1)Stubbornness- When I believe in something, I can get very set in my views. Also if I want to do something, I am going to do it.
2)Independence- While I consider it to be one of my best traits, I think my independence can also make me distance myself from others
3)Defensiveness- I tend to be very quick to defend myself which probably comes from a family that’s big on.. um… “friendly debate”
4)Insensitivity- I am not very easily hurt so I tend to underestimate the need for sensitivity in some situations. I also tend to speak what’s on my mind, especially if I think the person should hear it whether they want to or not.
5)Procrastination- this isn’t bad with things that are really important to me, but with everyday stuff like homework and making appointments and doing grocery shopping, I am not very good about getting it done, at least not in a timely way.
