Doctors are teh terribad

I haven't posted anything about whats going on for quite some time. SO here's the update.

So a few years back my mom screwed up her knee by stepping off a ladder. It took the doctors 4 months to find out she had fractured her knee cap in 2 places. She's pretty much fully recovered, but this bad luck has apparently become the curse of my family -_-

Late last year my grandmother (mom's mom)went in to see a couple doctors because her back was hurting, now she's not much for pain to begin with, but it takes a special kind of pain to motivate her to see a doctor. The kind of pain that you can't just sit and home and whine about for a few days and then are fine. The doctor couldn't find anything wrong with her so they sent her to a spine specialist to see if there was something wrong with her back...again nothing. After the first of the year she got sick and returned to the doctor. Her back was still bothering her quite a bit so she complained about that again. Since she was sick they took a blood sample to determine what she had, this was the first blood sample they had taken in a few years, and SURPRISE they found out what was making her sick as well as hurting her back.
One of her kidneys as well as about half of her liver was completely covered in cancer. Apparently when they found it her kidney was about the size of a grapefruit...that's a big ass kidney lol. She's been undergoing some sort of cancer treatment (not chemo, yet) that's been helping to shrink what she already has. Her tests were all looking really good. They then pulled her off of one of the medications she was on and she got sick and achy. They found out that the meds they had taken her off of were helping to alleviate the pain more then they were actually helping her. In fact they were screwing with her test results -_-
So they found another substitute for whatever they took her off of that's been helping. She also got an infection from the meds she was taken off of that was being covered by the same meds. So she's now battling a mild infection as well as cancer lol. Since her med switch she's been doing much better and is back to work. We saw her on Tuesday when we went to dinner for my dad's 52st birthday and she's looking much better.
As far as we know she'll more then likely lose a kidney and a big chunk of her liver, which I see as a small price to pay for another handful of years to watch her grand daughter grow up. There is no date for surgery yet. Last I heard they were waiting too see if her treatments were going to shrink the cancer anymore before they made up their minds on what to do.

In other news. When we went to dinner for my dad's birthday we found out that my little brother had been laid off from his job (he worked with my dad as Pape). This totally sucks for them as my sister in law spends money like she has a ton of it, they can't make their house payments (which her dad has been paying for for the last like 4 months) AND they have a 2 year old they have to take care of. I hope my brother can find work again, if not they might be moving in with my parents...which I know they are THRILLED about lol.
