why hell is counterintuitive

The whole reason pain exists--to warn or remind us that we're damaged--is because we're mortal. What's the point of a fire alarm once the building's gone?

And how would eternal pain even work? It's meaningless without something else to compare it to. If it's consistent, you'd just get used to it, and if you had breaks, you could look forward to the breaks and it wouldn't be eternal torment.

And what would be the point? What does God get out of making all those souls and then sticking them in a concentration camp forever? Purgatory makes perfect sense--hell makes none.
