"Drained" - a poem. by me.

Writer's block, take THAT! I wrote this in DiffEQ today. Go me and paying attention in class. Oh well, I'm really happy, because it's been SO long since I wrote something I considered decent enough to bother showing anyone. And I'm quite happy with this one.

he's got a dream in his pocket
and he's keeping a hand on it to remind himself
that he hasn't given up yet

he's got her hair in a locket
and he's keeping a hand on it because sometimes he forgets
that she's given up on him

he's got a girl in his arms
and he's wishing she were someone else
he's got cotton candy metaphors
that he uses to console himself

he's got a pistol in the desk's top drawer
that he's pretending doesn't matter anymore
but he's got a song and a movie and a book and a rhyme
that always reminds him just one more time
a song and a movie and a book in his heart
that will insist on tearing him apart
because sometimes he forgets
that he hasn't given up just yet
