knit opera gloves: quirky and cute, or stupid?
I am thinking in a natural white, with a matching knit beret. They would look pretty cute with my 3/4 sleeved bright orange trench coat. But I am afraid I am slipping further into Knitters' Syndrome: where I think that because I can knit something, a) I should, and b) knitting is the best medium for making the thing.
I have a whole Essay on this in my head, on how the best and worst things about DIY are the same: there is no curation process. You can make whatever you want to make! Unfortunately, this means that you are completely reliant on Having Good Taste. Hence,
Regretsy. (note: occasionally NSFW.)
(This is sort of like how on a frivolous whim I knit myself a bikini top last summer. I laugh about it and am completely unapologetic, but at the end of the day, it's kind of unwearable - it's a knit bikini. What am I supposed to do with a knit bikini? I suppose I could line it.)
Let's ignore the fact that it's July in Mississippi and hellaciously hot; now might not, in fact, be the best time to be thinking about knitwear. Further evidence that knitters are crazy.
