Ok.
Ready?
Today while pulling out of my apartment complex, that I've lived in for over a year now, it dawned on me that I might have forgotten something I needed to take to Shawn's w/me. So I pull into a spot in the faculty parking lot and rummage around in my floor-board looking for it...which I did find.
So...I put the car in first and start to pull out and cut across the parking area I'm in...and smack right the fuck into a sign. Ya know the type....most often they have street names...or STOP written on them...this one was for 'Faculty and Staff Parking Only.'
I then have a minor heart attack...it was mostly in my blind spot...and the portion that wasn't was just as gray on the overcast day as the pavement in the parking lot. So...like any responsible adult I do what comes naturally and immediately dial my parents who proceed to tell me to chill out and ask if anyone saw me hit it.
I swear to god there was an apartment parade going on because both neighbors on each side and several upstairs ones were just wandering around all lemming like. So...yes...definitely had an audience from my apartments along with the students/professors actually doing 'research' in the Nano-Technology lab that I hit the sign in front of (this half the building is all windows...so they got a good show)...and apparently there was a play being rehearsed for because people were flooding out of the Theater section of the Fine Arts building. ***--EVERYONE--*** saw me hit this damn thing.
So...like good parents they affirm my suspicion that I need to call the police and report it....which I did...and then called my insurance which really was just a pleasure as well.
The cop said it happens all the time there...and I personally have seen it happen twice in the same parking lot...the difference is I've seen visitors do it and drive off/out as quickly as possible...I think they'd notice the dent on my car since I park 50ft away from the 'incident'.
And now...now I wait...since the university is filing a claim I get to get my car fixed too which is nice...it has a ****PERFECT**** indention on the front bumper of the pole it hit...its funny to see cause there is no mistaking its origins.
