a little (cello, china, awkward) synchronicity

Cello players despise Pachebel.

Quigley sent out music files for next week's musical mayhem, including the dreaded Pachebel's Canon in D. Yesterday I went down to the GSU Religious Studies Dept to print some things out, like music. After snarling at the mere sight of this PDF and harvesting an otherwise fruitful crop of printing, I was making my way to the gym.

Walking past the student center, I heard some frenzied pounding on the plate glass window to my right, and saw paderau, aka B! It was fantastic as ever to hang out with him. Why this is so hilarious to me:

-He introduced me to this video, when we were in China together.
-On my ipod filled with a gazillion songs, the first song to start after we met was by Jay Chou. I have only one Jay Chou song, and it's from an album first played for me in Yangzhou... by B. Jay Chou is a never-ending theme in B's life.
-There are over 30000+ people on campus at GSU, this was my first time to be there in months, and paderau is only taking one class this semester.
-He kept using the term "awkward" to describe certain conversations with Chinese friends. The night before, I met an old acquaintance of mine, IW*, from the GSU Religious Studies Dept. I thought we were meeting over tea to catch up on things. Apparently IW thought I was still single. I gently corrected him, but his body posture shifted to one of dejection, and the thoughts of "I should've asked her out when I had the chance" ran a little too loudly across his face. The word for the evening, that I turned over and over in my head? Awkward.
-IW's brother had just given him a cello bow, to encourage him to take up the cello again...

this is dizzying.
