I've finally gotten to a point with Em's dress where I believe I can really, really fit it tonight, like to the point where I'll know for sure how tight it will be in the top, therefore to what extent I'll have to alter the skirt to fit.  It seems wild that I had to make it so much bigger, but she is a healthy girl.  She has muscles in her chest and back, I'm sure from lugging thirty pounds of backpack around all day.  And genetics factor in too.  Even at my thinnest (*cough*) I have a barrel chest.  I strongly resemble my paternal grandfather, who was built like a stevedore.  Although Emily's physique favors my sister's, with a long waist, she's no Kate Moss, God forbid.

Prom is still two weeks away, but I'm determined to get the dress done early enough that we're not scrambling at the last minute.  She has already sculpted the ornaments for her hair and the back of the dress, painted them and glued on fake jewels someone gave her, plus made some earrings to coordinate.  It's all good.
