When I went in today, my boss told me she now knew I'd sold 23 of the gadgets between the two days. She's ordered 60 more, plus tomorrow we're due to have a visit from the Wegmans (probably Danny and his daughter, Colleen), and management at our store decided they want me demoing the corer/slicer during the visit. Now honestly, folks, the Wegmans may never get anywhere near my work station, but the fact that the people I work with think highly enough of me to see me as an asset to display when the high muckety mucks are coming I find enormously flattering. I get the sense that many people have noticed me, since at least two of the chefs have struck up conversations with me recently. I passed one of them on my way out of the store tonight; she pointed her finger at me and said, "See you tomorrow". Given that the people in the tall white hats are important in our industry, I see that as good.
Now, if I can keep it in perspective, and if the Wegmans do actually show up at my work station not get so nervous I blow it tomorrow, I'll be fine.
I'm tired and happy, and not worried. I will be fine.
