Tired, just tired

Tired today, which is not surprising.  Spent two hours of yesterday lying on my stomach, trying to figure out my friend's electrical problem, and was unable to do so.  I called another friend, whose son-in-law as it turns out is an electrician, and got the SIL's name and number to give to the other friend.  Dennis is a bit upset about this because he wants to compensate me, but I don't care about that - I want his lights running properly.

Em's home sick for the third day in a row.   I got soup for her yesterday.  Today I'll see that she drinks a lot of fluids and hopefully things will improve.

While shopping for the soup I ran into the front end manager, and I asked him how things were going with the process of bringing me entirely up front.  It'll be two weeks Saturday since he told me it would probably be done in two weeks.  Ha.  They won't spring me from the demo job until they have a candidate to replace me, which they're having trouble finding because no one wants to work the hours.  That's hard for me to fathom, as I've been in retail for years.  To me, it's nice not to have to work nights, but I guess I come at this from a different angle.  So for now, I'm in limbo, working demo part of the time, and cashing the rest.  It's especially weird as my boss's boss cut my hours a second time, so now I'm not even doing all the demos I'm supposed to, but no one seems to be worrying about that except me.  Just bizarre, in my book.

I've got lots of picking up the house to do.  Laundry, as the bath towels are practically rotting on their hooks since the temp outside isn't low enough to get the heat running constantly.  Kitchen clean up.  I cooked another fabulous chicken last night.  We have a new type at Wegmans.  It has no added water, unlike most of the chicken you buy these days.  No antibiotics, no animal by-products in the feed.  Costs a little bit more, but it's worth it.  I wondered if I would taste the difference, and I did.   Now there's two birds to debone, and I need to weed out what is spoiling in the fridge (play guess-the-carcass, as we know it).  I should be putting some wonderful casseroles and soups together in the days to come.

Yesterday I was so plum worn out I sat and watched The Tigger Movie with Em.   So sweet.  Not a bad way to spend part of a day.

Later: the chickens are deboned, I got some apples and apple juice, did a bit of mulching out front.  Em's shepherded the laundry through several changes, thank goodness.  I got some cardio in at the gym, made a batch of cheddar biscuits, and had some with the absolutely wonderful leftover squash soup I had lurking in the fridge.  Bought two new corks for our salt and pepper shakers, one we needed and the other just in case.  Fiddly little things that make life better.  We've used the same salt-and-pepper set for oh, twenty-two years.  A pink pig for salt, a black-and-white for pepper.  Have to glue bits on occasionally, like ears that got broken off, but they're still in service.  When we ask each other for salt, we ask for pink pig.  :)
