Ray got yet another birdfeeder yesterday, after squirrels tore into the new one he'd gotten. This latest incarnation seems to be tough enough to stand up to them, plus the openings into the actual plastic feeder tube inside are small. Greedy gusses have been slowed down considerably. Yay.
Emily and I are definitely on the same wavelength about gifts. I bought her these, which I thought were so cute I was having a hard time not giving them to her right away:
Yes folks, those are a pair of octopi there, as well as a variety of fish and whales, I think. More pictures after the cut.
They came in a pack of three pair. The third has seahorses on it.
Utterly too cute. So what did Em bring home for me? Penguins! On slipper socks!
I also asked her, since I suspected she was going to Wegmans, to look for an amaryllis. There was only one left of the type I wanted, in a planter with ivy and some sort of fern in the base, and the blossoms are white with a delicate pink flush at the edges. Best of all, the whole shebang was six bucks less than it was Saturday, when I'd last seen them. Here it is in the birdcage in the corner of the dining/sitting room. I put houseplants in there to keep the kitties from eating them. It's a beautiful and I think rather dramatic setting for a lovely plant.
I'm enjoying the Christmas music Em has on her ipod. She went over to Cam's mother's house to hang out with him, and left it playing. She's got awesome taste in tunes!
