I needed to go to Farmers & Artisans to stock up on food, and Em asked to go with me. She drove. We had a few laughs, and my spirits lifted.
___________
Tazzer had to hork a hairball at one point today, and he chose to do so standing in the dog crate in the kitchen. I recognized the warning signs, grabbed some paper towels and laid them down in the uh, splat zone. As soon as he did the deed, he flew out of the crate. And Zoey popped in, as if to say, can I eat that? Yuuuuuuck!
___________
When I called Ray into the kitchen to get his dinner (he likes to select his own portions), he filled his plate and then, teasingly, said, "Can I get some ketchup to put on this?" Emily puts ketchup on aye lot of things. OMG, until he did that I'd forgotten that she put it on the roast chicken she ate Christmas day! Tonight we hugged and laughed and kissed. He even went back for seconds on the cauliflower gratinee.
____________
We have a standing joke around here, that the dogs provide a service we call "coldwater wash", in that occasionally we place cooking containers, once they are empty, on the floor and allow the dogs to lick them. Tonight it was the dish I baked the gratinee in, and good Lord, when I picked it back up again, it was darn near spotless! I don't know what did it. Perhaps the cheese, which was a raw milk cheddar from Farmers & Artisans. Holy guacamole. I've become a firm believer that animals know quality when they smell it. Amazing.
