I'm not in California anymore, part 6

1) It's safe to pile books on the shelf above my bed. I do not fear an earthquake will tumble them onto me.

2) Earlier this week there was a severe weather alert for Northern Central and Eastern Kentucky: thunderstorms with 60 mph wind gusts (96.5 kph), and quarter-sized hail. Not quarter-inch. Quarters. The coin. (15/16ths of an inch, or 2.4 cm.) There's a reason covered parking is A Good Thing.

3) You can get a decent haircut for $30.

4) There aren't many houses for rent here, but there are lots of houses for sale. If you want to rent, you get an apartment.

5) In California I had a pomegranate tree in my backyard. Every fall (assuming I could harvest before the squirrels ate them) it provided free fruit. In Kentucky the fruit is limited, sad-looking, and expensive.
