A short video of a 'fire tornado'. I hadn't known such a thing existed, & yeah, it's as spectacular & wonderful & creepy as you might imagine, & if I'd seen it in a movie I would not have believed it: Rare 'fire tornado' filmed in Australian Outback.
Some scientists wanted to understand what happens when lava hits ice. Apparently that combination happens in places that are too remote to easily access, so the scientists melted their own lava & ran experiments. 1) Science is cool. 2) I keep thinking of all the ways making lava & mixing it with ice could go wrong. "Honey, can you whip up another batch of basaltic frappucino? The last one melted through the countertop!"
