remember the honey bees?

I dunno if you remember that a hive of honey bees moved into the wall of our house?

So the bees moved in. About 2 weeks later they either went dormant (it was still a bit chilly then), or moved out. A few days later they were back. For less then a week. Then they were gone. Then they were back, maybe? (There were some bees, but not as many.) And then they were gone. And they've stayed gone ever since.

Which is good, because the landlord refused to believe the management company that there were bees in the wall of the house ("It's a brick house. How can they get into the walls?") so there had been no follow-up on our attempt(s) to get it dealt with.

I'm guessing that the bees figured out that a brick wall that has a Southwestern exposure with no shade gets very very hot (& also stays very cold when it is cold) & is not as nice a place to build a hive as they originally thought.

The answer to the landlord's question is: there are holes in the brick walls where the pipes come into the house, & those holes were plenty big for bees to crawl through.
