oh, adam

stuck between a rock and a hard place
apples are falling everywhere,
even on your head

but i suppose it’s alright,
because we will get hungry
sooner or later
and we can’t possibly carry
all of them in just one trip

i winter hate.

i hate the snow, the cold, and the ice. i hate that puddles which were considered water ten minutes ago, are now ice trenches waiting to steal your shoe. i hate how the miniscule furs inside my nose instinctively freeze together while clinging on for warmth, thus making it hard to breathe the obscenely frigid air. i hate how my ear-muffs and mittens leak cold memories of child-hood ice skating and tobogganing, when the winters had no effect on these bones; thereby creating a happy expectation of eight-figured snowflakes (which only make it more difficult to drive and circumnavigate the hidden ice patches). i hate the excitement of a white Christmas, when many millions of people are happily contented with a green one, or possibly even a yellow one (or even red/orange ones as such in Australia). i hate the winter, and the hate it reflects onto me. i wish i could hibernate it all away, like our national animal; the polar bear of defeat.
