I had a much longer piece about the year and all that it meant, but really, the Lesson of 2012 can be summed up in this image, from Laura Burns:
That’s my book there, being read at Machu Picchu, which is high enough to be a flying city on its own. And it’s one of the most magical things I’ve ever seen.
Twelve months ago, I would have thought 2012 would be the Year of Me. Instead, it’s been the Year of My Friends. There has been so much wonder this year, so much that happened because of the people I’ve been around, from collaborations to group projects to simple hang-outs. Thank you all.
It’s been a year of horror and loss, of agonies and tears. But despite all of that, there’s still the opportunity for magic, as long as you’ve got good friends around you.
I see now, that’s what 2012 has been all about.
