This memory was dredged up by this post on BoingBoing, which in turn references the Yosemite Firefall, where they used to throw burning stuff over a cliff.

Here are pictures of Camp Falling Rock in Newark, Ohio, both summer and winter, including pictures of the waterfall.

Perhaps next time I'll tell of the Canadian Juvenile Delinquents who pulled a knife on us during a Scouting trip to Algonquin National Park in Ontario. But like Dr. Watson's account of Sherlock Holmes's encounter with the giant rat of Sumatra, it is a tale for which the world is not yet ready!

Fire on The Falls!! anonymous February 7 2016, 17:36:24 UTC
I was a Boy Scout from about 1957-1961 (I think it was Troop 9 from Heath Ohio) I was lucky to get selected to Staff at Camp Falling Rock for the summer, I think it was 1961 I spent about 12 weeks there! I was assigned to be part of the Kitchen Crew. That lasted for about 4 weeks. I didn't really like being in the kitchen all the time. I was lucky that they needed someone on the Ranger Crew. We did everything outdoors. This was much better! Drive tractors, Run chain saws, etc. One thing we did was run the amplitheater show on Thursday nights. I remember my job was to dump and light either Gasoline or Kerosene in the water above the Falls. We used battery telephones to comunicate with each other. I don't remember the Indian with the arrow shooting down the wire. That was probably after my time. I do remember after about the second month my parents came to vist and for the only time in my life I got Home Sick! Fortunately I got over it. All of this is based on 55 year ago memory. If you know what I mean!
