Victory Day

May 19, 2009 10:24

9th of May Russia celebrates Victory Day. This is a very important holiday for us. This is the Day of Victory in War with Germans 1941-1945. Usually TV is full of movies about those hard times. This day means a lot to everyone. Unfortunately, the meaning of this time is getting vague among youth: now many young men join into nacist communities which is painful to all others, that is why we pay even more attention to the Victory Day in order to help our young men understand how agressivness based on enything even on nationalism can be devastating. Every family has grandmas and grandpas who participated in this war so many families have something like family home evening where grandparents tell  stories of their great part lives, some watch movies about war and then  go out to watch fireworks, some people go for a walk to the Victory Park (if in Moscow), there are many tanks, jets, different guns and cannons, children love to clime up those things. There is also a victory museem devoted to WW II with many panoramas and with a cinema where you can watch documentary movies, also museem has huge archives, people are still looking for their relatives they lost during this war, this archive works for finding these people or any information about them. We say this day is the day of tears and smiles.
