Went for dinner with Mum and Sis last night. Took them to a tapas bar called
Movida which friends (including a chef at a restaurant I've only been to once, but quite liked) have raved about. Our experience was rather mixed. The roasted mushrooms ("setas asado con jerez") were first and were fantastic. Really really good. Would've been quite happy to just eat those for dinner. But the octopus (with potatoes and paprika, "pulpo a la gallega") and cuttlefish (with chickpeas, mint and tomato, "chocos con garbanzos") were overcooked and rather more rubbery than they should've been. They were also rather bland. The pistachio-crusted prawns ("gambas con frutos secos") and the crab-stuffed peppers ("piemento de piquillo") were lovely, but not outstanding. Luckily, the churros with chocolate for dessert were a good finishing point. There's a lot more on the menu though, and I've been recommended the cod, so I guess I might give it a second chance sometime.
