Random stuff
What to post about? I really should get back into this more.
For one thing, a grant we applied for didn't come through (is that too euphemistic? We got REJECTED!), and so I was only going to have half a salary for the next 2 years. But The Boss did some shuffling or something, and now I should have full employment again (I think, for at least a few months).

Managed to meet up with
speshal_k twice whilst in London.
Pub #1 was at the end of her street (at the time) and quite purple.
It was a lovely warm afternoon and we sat outside and drank Pimms (which came with a wink and a shot of vodka for some of us). Deirdre also came by, straight from Paris (via the airport) and brought aliens. We had a bite to eat there, then wandered down the street and checked out speshal_k's pad and heard stories about the mysterious and possibly odd housemate.
The next night we met up in Soho to go for Chinese at Wong Kei's, where the waiter was a little abrupt (but it would be stretching the truth to say he was rude), the salt and pepper squid was quite good. Then down to a pub in Vauxhall (where one of CIGs friends was supposed to be DJing but wasn't due to... a death in the family? I think...) via the rather sluggish underground (Deirdre cycled over and beat us there by a good 15 mins!) for a couple of pints.
