[Kurt had teleported outside to take out the trash, only to be attracted to that strange and large tail. Curious, he proceeds near it to poke it with his own tail.]

[And once he does, the tail will lash back by whipping upward, alert. No one but her two best friends get to touch the tail, buddy. A voice rumbles from within the trash can.]

Cut that out! Who said you can touch the tail?

[He's the same way. Except no one gets to touch his tail.]

Whoa! The tail's real!?

[Uh.]

Of course it's real.

[She focuses her weight on an edge, causing the trash can to tip over in that direction and allowing Makoto to get her feet on the solid ground. Shrugging the upper half of her body out of the container, she unceremoniously dumps the trash can at her side.]

There. Pretty real, right?

[Then she gets a better look at the person she's speaking with.]

. . . and you're blue.

[Yes, very blue, but he's staring at her curiously, because for goodness sake, she has a giant tail.]

Well you're a... squirrel. [Is that right?]

[She can't help but stare back as well when he's got those contrasting eyes and the lack of whites on top of all the blueness.]

. . . that's right. And what are you supposed to be?

[He's still pretty sensitive about the eyes, so he breaks eye contact first.]

Supposed to be? [A freak. A monster. A demon.] It's ahh... complicated, yeah? But nevermind that, what are you doing in a trash can?

[Oh. Well, okay. It seems to bother him, so she won't push it.]

You tell me. More importantly, where is this?

[And why does everything hurt?]

[Oh. New Feather dress, isn't it. Oh boy.]

It's called Luceti. Yeah, I know, you've never heard of it. It's nowhere near Kansas or wherever you're from. It's not even the same world.

Uh . . .

[Took the words . . . questions right out of her mouth? Kind of.]

And how is that even possible? The idea of being in another world is pretty far-fetched, you should know.

Well so are the wings on your back. [That always is a good one. If not, teleporting might convince her.]

. . . Huh?

[Is that what the -- she whips her head around, catching a glimpse of the apex of a wing. Her tail shoots up as though it was electrocuted. She turns back to Kurt.]

What am I supposed to be, a flying squirrel?

Those don't have wings, either!

[Kurt turns to the side, intentionally stretching his own wings out.]

It's kind of the standard package here.

[She stares. Her hand drops back to her side.]

All right, just what exactly is going on here?

Now that is a long story. We're kind of trapped here. Lots of super scientist stuff and... actually, was there a book with you in the ahh, trash can?

[A book? Oh!]

Yes, there was. What does that have to do with anything?
