She's yelling at him. Chloe called. It sounds urgent, the way her cousin is flailing about.
He looks down at the ring in his hand for a second to think.
Thinking done. He pushes it onto his finger with determination.
Yes, he wanted to listen. Yes, he cared about whatever message it was she had tried to send him, but there was no time.
Well, technically there was all the time in the world. The ring the Legion gave him allowed him as much time as he wanted, but he couldn't take the chance. If Chloe was in trouble, he could feel compelled to save her, even though it didn't really matter in the scheme of things. Going back would save her, but could he resist saving her now? Could he risk Linda Lake regaining consciousness and the possibility she could steal the ring back from him? Even a few seconds to stop and listen could change everything.
