Well president bush announced that he is increasing the nasa budget. We will make a return to the moon and build a permanent base there. The moon base will be our stepping stone to mars.
Not to mention we have the spirit rover on mars now. Another is on the way.
Bush is making it hard for me not to like him... I think we need a scientific presence in space. I think we also need a military presence in space. Wars are won or lost in the sky in our modern world... could you imagine if the chinese or someone elses military controlled the space over the sky?
A little additional info... the shuttles are only certificated until 2010. Not all aircraft must be certificated. A lot of home builds are not. (Yes there are a lot of homemade aircraft out there). You cannot however log time in an uncertified aircraft. Nor could they fly passengers or payloads for hire. I dont think the shuttles would make it through the process to be recertified... My airline works with certification very closley... We are the first and so far only airline to take a non-certified passenger jet and go through the process... We purchased planes that were never certified or intended to fly in the United States. We have done several certifications on jets purchased from european countries.
Well that and about 50 cents will get you a cup of coffey... Maybe any way... Just my two cents thrown in....
