While I'm not sure I see a downside (in general, at least) to not having been stuck on New Caprica for a year, and I know that my classroom wasn't the first place you ever wanted to be, I'm not sure it would have been better if we did have the opportunity to correct our mistakes.
I came into faith as more than lip service when I was a good two decades older than you are, Tory.
I'm glad that you can offer forgiveness, ma'am, but I can't offer it for myself. My job is to pay attention to the details so that you don't have to do so. I failed at my job and many people died. I know how much that number on the white board means to you, and I played a role in its reduction.
I knew we'd have to have someone at the command level involved in order to pull this off. I'm good, but I'm not good enough to fool the military on my own.
I ruled out Admiral Adama because he truly believes that humanity must be "worthy of living" and I doubted that included stealing an election. So, I moved down the chain of command.
I found a nice bottle of ambrosia and approached Colonel Tigh after his shift was over. After a few drinks and despairing over a future Baltar administration, he came to the "realization" that we should fix the election.

Just out of curiosity, how in gods' names did you ever get Colonel Tigh involved?
