Peace on Earth
Whilst we were wrapping things late into the Christmas eve, I tried to work out the difficult wording for something on my laptop and watching some television.
The Christmas Carols has finished on the television so we started to watch the next film, "Silent Night". This story is based on two small groups of hostile American and German soldiers during World War II are forced to take shelter overnight in a German woman's home on a 1944 Christmas Eve in the Ardennes region. They agree to a temporary, uneasy truce until the morning.
During a heart moving moment, the German mother Elizabeth Vincken (played by Linda Hamilton) says "With good intentions, anything is possible". It's a true story about finding peace in the midst of war and it really set the spirit for the evening and season.
The following message was finally left on the table for our children from Father Christmas.
Dear xxx
The elves and I have been busy but I really wanted to write to you. I have checked my list twice and I can see that you have all tried hard to be good.
With good intentions, anything is possible.
I get really hungry by the time that I visit Australia so it was nice to have something to drink and eat. Thank-you for thinking about us.
Millions of children around the world know me. I travel with many names, many helpers and in many different ways. On 6 December each year, a good friend and old bishop Saint Nicholas travels in his red bishop's costume on a white horse. He has asked me to say hello and thank you for the treats.
We all enjoy making Christmas special so today I have brought some presents. We all would like to wish you and your family the best wishes ever.
