Writing funding applications can be about as fun as pulling out your hair. You may have heard on the news tonight that the Minister for Education, Science and Training, the Hon Dr Brendan Nelson MP, announced $9 million of funding for Round One of the ASISTM Project. An application assembled by a team that I am a member of has been successful for some of this funding! You can

Teaching and Learning with Digital Games that I attended back in February. Very good news for all that worked on the grant application :-)
Computer Game Design, Programming, Multimedia and Mathematics will draw on the motivating power of computer games to improve outcomes in design, programming, multimedia and mathematics. Based on constructivist learning theory, it will develop computer club programs in cluster schools. A range of versatile programming tools (e.g. Gamemaker, Stagecast, Klick and Play) will be used to motivate and engage students. There will also be associated professional development courses, web resources and game programming forums. Outcomes will include web-based curriculum materials, teacher forums, teacher in-service, game programming competitions, case studies and student authored web pages.
