The day the Earth stood still

Just returned from watching the 2008 remake of "The day the Earth stood still". Great remake of a 1951 masterpiece.

I was horrified to read a heated discussion thread on one forum that considered the failure of the US military to lob more nuclear weapons at the silver naobots or sphere in the movie. I sharke my head in disbelief to those people that think we can solve all our problems by just throwing larger and larger rocks. Perhaps they missed the point of the entire flick.

Wife really enjoyed this film without having see the 1951 version, spotting many twists and things that I missed amongst the rain of special effects. I must take the trouble to track down a copy for her to view.

The film is not so much a science fiction movie to explore alien life. More like a mirror to our soul.

Others might disagree, I loved it. :-)
