I have been invited by Peter to a workshop as a Master
GLOBE trainer with a
GLOBE project FLEXE workshop. It will be held in Melbourne from 20 to 21st January. Should be fun although the last thing I need are more days lost in the school holidays instead of playing with the kids.
WIth this project, my year 9 Research Science or FLEXE students collect data from their local environment and compare it with data from an extreme deep-sea environment. It nicely links there work with that by scientists during a research cruise to collect and analyse their deep-sea data.
I am also debating if I should attend the
CSIRO workshop "
Astronomy from the Ground Up!" held in Parks NSW from 15 to 17 May 2009. At 9 hours, it will be one hell of a road trip (oddly, flying takes nearly as long) to get to Parks and back but it should be fun learning
radio and optical astronomy in the shadow of the huge radio dish.
Sounds like a great opportunity to learn more about many exciting opportunities and programs on offer in the
International Year of Astronomy 2009.
