Pulling the plug on blind censorship

I should be of no surprise that Internet filters used in Australia are generally compiled by groups based in Utah and Florida. I might blog more about this later. We should forget about relying on groups in the USA to help Australians censor the Internet.

Perhaps I can be a bit of a wag, and instead suggest that we should consider running our Australian Internet pipe North, perhaps into China. Not only will it help bridge a fast and closer connection to our neighbors, we can enjoy living inside the protection of the great iron curtain. From news reports I read of the Olympic Games, if anybody got it right, they certainly did a good job of it.

Would make life so much easier .. just run a cable up North and plug into the big router. I know that there is one as I saw the LinkSys on South Park.

A sharp tug is all that is probably needed on our international submarine cables to remotely yank them out of the International plugs. We could then recycle the copper and gold or just use it to restring our hills hoists. Easily done and would save us a lot of mucking about. I am not so sure how to handle the remaining links and feeds although there was a successful trial by somebody at shooting down a satellite that could be a source of inspiration. Schools can still use their old satellite dish as a gazebo roof for the staff beer garden or dig it into the ground as a water feature.

Anybody for a game of solitaire?
