Demons called perfection and doubt

Feb 12, 2007 11:11

Like many other teachers, I have a regular shuttle of student teachers who work to help create handy and good IT resources that I can use in my classroom. Wearing my second hat, I also help mentor new teachers cross the bridge from being just a classroom teacher to a member of the VIT and our profession.

I have shown and encouraged them all how to join these splendid lists, read and follow our debates, contribute their resources to Edulists and the VITTA resource bank under a creative commons licence to share. Can you imagine how encouraging and motivating it is for a student teacher to later read the compliments posted and their handouts downloaded over 100 times? Reaching perhaps 1000+ students can really make them feel like being part of  wider community of practicing IT educator. Beats throwing it all away at the end of the academic year.

We should not let the demons of perfection and doubt stall their opportunity to contribute.
