Guardian of Christmas

Every Christmas tree needs a dinosaurWe must have had one of the few 2006 Christmas trees in the neighborhood that sported a red pterodactyl dinosaur in the upper branches. Perhaps it was guarding the tinsel, decorations or the angel.

We even found the time to make some of our own decorations to hang on the branches including some hand-made cards. It didn't seem to be quite enough so we went wild on a huge bag of sparkle and tinsel.

We woke up to a very cold but white Christmas morning in the Melbourne hills. A hailstorm had blanketed the ground with a layer of ice and when the wind calmed, it began to snow. It didn't take long to melt. Considering our current drought, latitude and typical warm weather in December, this was a nice surprise.

Traditional breakfast nosh is pancakes and later in the day, a generous helping of koude schotel, croquettes. hot soup, coleslaw and an organic garden salad. You can view a slideshow of some pictures here.
