Last night our college held another good school council dinner at a local TAFE restaurant. This is an annual tradition to salute the efforts of all our teacher aides, support staff and non-teaching workers at the college.
There were a mix of different people on my table including employees. Together I managed to weave some interesting threads trough a thank you speech that mentioned that we all help:
- Students that fall over cracks and need a band-aid (first-aid staff)
- Students that fall through the cracks and need a help up (student welfare)
- Patch and fill the cracks in the building by students (caretaker)
- Students that are taught to jump over cracks (sport coaches)
- Path the cracks in the student computers and school network (IT support staff)
We are all united by the a common thread of helping students.
