Originally uploaded by plakboek. he use of the any network or Internet is a controversial topic amongst some schools. Moodle allows for authenticated users to collaborate locally using a special chat module. This screen grab from one session illustrates how it has worked in my classroom.
I still have to get a handle on how it can be best used in the general classroom. Students are quickly reminded that all sesions are logged for teachers and that the standard rules of good behaviour and netiquette apply.
For now, one of my students cannot attend two evening classes each week but can login from home and join her classmates. The chat module provides a social bridge that would otherwise be missing.
