A USB powered lifestyle

I was interested to read that the Universal Serial Bus(USB) system had evolved from the old plug-in boards that we once stuck inside personal computers. This was once the only way you could add devices such as external disk drives, digital cameras and scanners into old IBM PC computers. The Apple Macinsosh lead the way with serial bus devices and daisy chained SCSI drives. Things have moved on with Firewire and USB Bus systems.

Mike pointed out to me that we can now have a USB powered coffee cup warmer. With a bit of imagination helped by a dash of Gimp, we could all benefit from the following must-have accessories to dress up any laptop or PDA.

A USB powered
  • set of cables so that you can jump-start your car.
  • electric security gun that can be plugged and fired from your device for real computer security.
  • set of night vision goggles so you can view a laptop screen in the dark, even when it has powered down.
  • shaver and toothbrush for those days you need to brush up on the run.
  • set of Christmas lights to hang around the work partition.
  • lava lamp for a really retro feeling for your Apple IIe (has anybody ever added a USB connection to one ?)

Other suggestions welcome :-)
