today. i saw a student learn. i mean really learn. i saw him have a misconception. i saw him plan an experiment for the open ended assignment i gave. saw him startled by the response. then really fully grasp the implications of newton's second law. he will not forget it. he truly learned that. that is why i am teaching. also, this student i can tell that he will go to school and be an engineer (mechanical probably) or some other science field. he tells me this and that my class is good for him and that me staying for tutoring means a lot to him because he can explore topics to the depth he wants to.
he is not an A student. but he is a student that is learning and is learning how to learn and work to succeed.
this is why i teach. this is why i stay in the office till 10 at night so i can work with students till 5 and still plan good lessons for the next day.
yours truly
