(no subject)
This job has really made me resent both students and faculty with passion:
Blonde Female Student: So, like when I brought my computer in cuz of spyware 4 months ago you guys said you fixed it, but like there's totally spyware on it right now!
Me: Hmm, let me open Spybot real fast . . . ah, definitions haven't been updated in 4 months, that's why nothing comes up when you run scans
BFS: I have to run scans myself???
and yesterday, when this woman was having problems with her keyboard and mouse:
Me: Are the cables loose, or otherwise unplugged?
Her: No . . . No, everything looks fine
Me: Ok, I'll be up in a few minutes to take a look at it
(Five minutes later)
Her: What took you??
I check her computer and find out that there's no way she could have looked at the cables, as they are locked behind the anti-theft shield. I then spent 20 minutes taking it off, only to find that she had somehow pulled both the keyboard and the mouse entirely out of their PS/2 slots! She didn't even thank me after I got it all working again either :(
*Sigh* This is depressingly nerdy, isn't it?
