And the hits just keep on coming

Well, I don't really know what to say.

I'm the new Plainsman sports editor for the rest of the semester. All four members of our sports staff got fired today. Yeah, things were sort of nuts. And once the dust settled, we were left without a sports staff and with some hopeless holes to fill.

I'm not quite sure what made me do it. I've always wanted to work on sports for Plainsman, and apparently (according to Cliff) I have a tendency to jump into frays left and right. Maybe that's good, maybe it's bad. All I know is when I see a hole, I like to fill it. If there's a problem, I try to fix it. That's why I'm the sports editor now, and that's why I'm Plainsman summer editor. Maybe I'm just crazy.

But this is a spirit that is not afraid, dammit. And as much as I wish this hadn't happened, it did. That's life -- you move on and you move up. That's what the rest of us are in the process of doing. And no matter what happens this year, we'll keep on doing just that.

I wish all this hadn't happened, but now that it has, I'm ready to seize the opportunities, whatever they may be. In fact, I'm more than ready. I'm pumped. I finally get to see just what I'm made of -- and if I'm right about myself and this staff, we are all capable of so much more than this.
