The Accident.

Jan 09, 2007 04:47

The date: 08/01/07
The time: ~23:50pm
The place: Near Finlaystone(?sp) park

The details...in brief: I was on my way home from work...was working a late shift in a hospital which is a 1hr drive from my home. All the way home I'd been telling myself to be careful 'cos there'd been some minor close calls, and since my 2 year anniversary of passing my test is on the 12th, I just felt to be on my guard.

Anyway,I'm on the motorway, it's dark and wet and suddenly a fox appears infront of me, crosses the road and I'm like phew. But, as my car is drawing closer it decides to return to the road...right into my approaching car!
And then from here on is a blur,...I swerved to avoid it and felt a bump(the fox I think) and then the impact of the railings of the road, and then spinning in 360 degrees motion and screaming out while in motion,(thinking to myself "this could be the end.."), and then another impact and then stop.
I am still alive...but I smell something burning. So I grab my phone, push past the airbag, force open the door, and jump out onto the road.

Dialled 999, got on to the police, and broke down in tears...really hysteria. By this point, some really decent folk had stopped and come over to me, and they ended up speaking to the police on the phone as I was in no state to communicate intelligibly!
The police were on their way, folk were trying to keep me calm, my chest was sore, and then I called Colin...who was extremely calm in contrast to my hysterical state.Bless his cotton socks :-)

I eventually calmed down, I have to say the folk who stopped were such dear people...I am so moved by their kindness. The police came, details were taken, their pick-up recovery truck- thing arrived, Colin came and took me to hospital.

According to the folk and the police, I'm "lucky" to be alive. They believe my dear 'baby' polo is a write-off. *weep*

In A+E, I got the works for investigations and was given the all clear. And then I was dropped off at home and so my day ended.

I can't sleep...I don't even want to. But one thing that is so real is the covering of God in all of this. He has preserved my life,...and to Him be all the praise and thanks!!!

There'll be all the paperwork and etc to sort out from here on...but I'm not going to fret about that. Life goes on :-)

And so for the record, that is my summary of The Accident.

It's very interesting, but in the morning before I went to work, this verse from my Daily Light reading really lived for me: " ...Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that He will yet deliver us." 2 Corinthians 1v 10

Amen.
