Marlow had left him with instructions on how to reach her place via Floo, and Hestia had been her ever-helpful, gentle self in giving him a crash course on the finer points of navigating the network (”Clear pronunciation-“), so after taking a moment to put a damper on his jitters, any particularly strong instance of which was still liable to make any nearby light, magical device, or, in the case of the one poor ward that had caught him by surprise with an evening meal two days ago, person, malfunction, he had tossed his handful of dusty powder into the fireplace, stepped into the green burst of flames, and distinctly announced his destination.

If he hadn’t already gotten his fill of strange, overwhelming, and completely out of his personal ordinary in the past few days, Patrick imagined he would have landed a lot more dazed than he actually did on the other side. As it was, he at least managed enough composure to regain his balance with a minimal amount of grace following the lurch that spat him out into the middle of a living room.

It still took him a second to get his bearing, a cloud of ash bouncing off of him as his whole body shook with the force of the sneeze that followed.

Honestly, he still would’ve rather just taken a taxi-
