The Halo Effect

Feb 06, 2007 11:25

I'm sitting here letting the last tube of Graham Webb's HALO Illuminating Color Protection soak through my wet head. I paid around 20 bucks at Ulta for four tubes of this little magic blessing.

After getting my color done at Toni and Guy in December for the wedding, I decided to buy some insurance in the form of Halo. And I have to say that regardless of whether it has kept my highlights longer, I feel better knowing that I've applied Halo. Once a week, after shampooing and conditioning with a color-safe shampoo (Bedhead Self Absorbed:smells like yummy), I've diligently applied this. It doesn't have a fabulous smell, but it makes my locks feel very silky and shiny. And it takes a bit of patience to then get out of the shower, towel-dry, apply and then rinse, but sometimes maintenance can be rewarding.

Now I haven't been a highlighting-type-of-girl for a very long time, mind you. This obsessive addiction was quite a treat for me after going a few years with natural hair. I have done the Natural Instincts boxes a few times and those are temporary color treatments. Lee of the band Elegant Trash was my colorist at Toni and Guy(TIGI). I played model a few times for TIGI and realized how torturous it was to sit through a five-hour hair consult just to get free color.

I've used Graham Webb products since high school so I do trust their line. While I'm letting Halo sink in, I can't help but also say that I'm using Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer AGAIN. I'm a pale deer and when I want to dress cute lately, I'm very white, so by using this 7.5 fl oz. bottle ($5.97 at Walmart) every day after showering, I get a fakey-golden tan that makes me appear much healthier. I love the scent and the results. Apply after shower, walk around nude for five minutes to let the lotion sink in properly, then get dressed and you're ready to go on your own glamgirl way!

Now my color is grown out about two inches, but I'm still getting compliments. My neighbour is a student and wants to do my highlights next. I'll see but for now I'm going with the flow.
