Okay. So, I probably just had the greatest weekend of my life. Definitely the kind of weekend that deserves its own LiveJournal entry. But I’ve become increasingly sick of writing in this thing (hence the lack of updates) and I would rather not. My only problem is that if I don’t update this, I’ll probably be too lazy to tell all of you about the crazy weekend that I had. So, I’m going to do my best.

We shall start with Saturday. I had the most fun on Saturday and I thought I should save it for last because it was the best. But then I decided that I would just tell my tale chronologically to save everyone from confusion. I worked a really long day on Saturday and it was pretty lame. Something exciting might have happened but the odds are against that. The fun didn’t pick up until my shift ended and I was able to go home. My best friend in the entire world, Andrew Rusin, was home from school for the first time ever. And what was Andrew home for? The Faint concert which was that very night.

As amazing as Andrew is, I wanted desperately for Parker to attend the concert. Going to shows without Parker around just isn’t the same so I spent a couple hours begging him to go. We decided that we were in love and then we fought over Neely and I managed to win (I am very cunning.). However, in the end Parker still decided against going which was probably a good idea as he wouldn’t have been able to get in. (Stupid Faint, selling out shows.)

After I got done winning girls from Parker, Andrew picked me up and it was the happiest moment ever. His hair was new and short and he had hot new clothes. He brought me presents and I got to play with them on the way to the show. We got to the Majestic and we weren’t super early which was weird for us. There was actually a bit of a line and we stood in it and made friends with everyone. People liked Andy’s hair because it is awesome.

We didn’t wait very long and they let us inside. Luckily enough there wasn’t much of a crowd in front of us. We ended up right next to Parker’s friend Carmen who I met last week at the Rilo Kiley show. There were some other people there as well but I don’t remember any of their names. Carmen actually remembered me and we talked. She got to pet Andy’s hair which was probably the highlight of the night for her because his hair is really soft. Some other random people talked to me about Tilly and the Wall and I didn’t like them as much. Then Dean, Cullen, and some other kid showed up. Dean was really drunk and also on valium and everything he said was stupid. I kept making loud comments about how much I hated him and wished he would leave and eventually he did. Cullen wouldn’t even come near us because he was so afraid of Andrew.

The crowd got crowded after that and it was gross. Like I said, it was a sold out show so people began crushing us pretty quickly. Not being able to move is awesome and so are the awesome people that come to shows and think they can push their way in front of everyone else in the crowd.

The first band to play was Beep Beep and they were hideous. I find it quite amusing that Saddle Creek put their record out. I’ve read so many reviews about the democratic process involved when The Creeksters are putting out a new act. It amazes me that a band like Tilly and the Wall couldn’t make the cut but Beep Beep did. Their music is loud and sounds very bad. The lyrics are obscene and boring. Their set couldn’t have ended quicker.

Next up was TV on the Radio. I think something funny probably happened during the set change but I don’t remember what it was. Fans of Paul will remember that he has seen TV on the Radio a few months prior and it had been pretty boring. Last time the band lacked energy and the entire set was pretty boring. This time was the complete opposite of that show. The band seemed to care about the performance and gave it 110%. I almost text messaged Kyle and told him that we should probably but their CD but then I didn’t. The white guy did lots of crazy things and it was nuts because he was white.

After the TV on the Radio set some even crazier stuff happened but I’ve already forgotten about that too. I text messaged Andrew a lot even though he was standing right next to me. The people around us in the crowd were pretty lame and I wanted to make fun of them but I didn’t want them to hear us. But I think you will all be happy to know that the girl that was standing directly in front of us had a pierced vagina and really enjoyed walking up stairs. Lots of people pushed in front of us and we got bounced around like little ball units. Andy got sick of the bouncing and shouted “Imperturbable wall unit” and we moved together and from that point on anyone who tried to move between us had to find another route through the crowd.

So, before The Faint actually came on stage I was planning my LiveJournal entry in my head. I think it was going to focus primarily on my newly developed hatred of shows and people. That review continued on in my head for the first few songs. The Faint came out and opened with some songs from the new album which isn’t that spectacular. People kinda bobbed their heads up and down like they did the last time they saw them and all I could thing was “Great.” The third or fourth song they played was Erection and I gave Parker a call and held the phone up as that is what he wanted. This solidified our love for each other which is only rivaled by my love for Andy. And possibly my dog.

But yeah. Then things got nuts. After The Faint got a few of the new songs out they decided to completely kick everyone’s ass with Worked up So Sexual. As soon as they started to play a very drunk Dean found his way on stage and dove off. I’m not sure if it was Dean being a douche bag or one of the most popular Faint songs being played, but after this the entire crowd went fucking insane.

For the most part it resembled a giant dance party. Weird indie kids flailing around, filling the floor with their limbs. Andy and I weren’t shy and we quickly joined in the flailing. Andy is an amazing dancer and all the girls were quickly drawn to him. I have no rhythm and probably look pretty silly but I don’t think it mattered much because we were at a Faint show and everyone there was just as lame as me.

There were times (during the more popular songs) when the show resembled less of a dance floor and seemed more like a mosh pit. I didn’t enjoy these moments nearly as much as it was a Faint concert. I don’t go to Saddle Creek shows for violence. Still, for the most part the show was amazing. I eventually got pushed back towards Carmen and the rest of Parker’s friends. I helped save her from losing a shoe (I think) and Andy did awesome things. He even hit me in the face and split my lip open. There are times when Paul might be mad about having a bloody lip but as the song goes, “Anything worth doing’s worth getting hurt for.”

They closed up the set with an awesome three song encore that included Take Me to the Hospital, Paranoiattack, and Agenda Suicide. We all danced and were awesome throughout the entire thing. Some other girl talked to me and apparently she knew Hudnall. I think her name was Denise and I probably met her at the Rilo Kiley show last week but I don’t really remember because I try to block all memories related to Hudnall from my head. Either way, I’m awesome.

Overall, it was probably the second best concert I’ve ever been to. Second only to Five Iron. I know that no one reading this is going to run out and see The Faint during the present tour which is really a shame because it’ll probably be the last time you get to see them in a semi-small venue.

Oh. I suppose I should mention that there are rumors floating around that there was some other kid named Andrew there that knew my Andy from school. This other Andrew was apparently awesome and kept blowing kisses to my Andy and trying to steal him away from me. These are really nothing but rumors and this other Andrew does not exist. And even if he did, he would have been wearing a Rapture shirt and we all know how lame that is.

After the show we bid farewell to Carmen whom I shall be seeing soon at The Good Life show. This time Parker will actually be there and I can not hate him. Andy and I made our way to a nearby gas station where much Mountain Dew was consumed. And then we headed towards home, content in the fact that neither of us were as lame as Dean.

And that is how the best day of my weekend ended. Now onto the second day...

As I am sure you are well aware, every Sunday for the past three weeks we have been filming our new project, Turner and Walters. We’d managed to get a little bit done the last two weeks but the biggest problem we had was that we were lacking a girl to play the female lead. Turner promised that he would find someone for us but things weren’t really looking up... But then something amazing happened. Matt Turner actually came through.

Now I’m going to let you kids read a little portion of the script so that you will know what I had in mind for the character as I was writing the movie.

IAN TURNS AROUND TO SEE IRIS. HE IS SHOCKED BY WHAT HE SEES. IRIS IS A BEAUTIFUL GIRL THAT LOOKS LIKE WHOEVER WE GET TO PLAY HER.

So, the girl that Matt found goes by the name Elizabeth and she managed to fit the above character description perfectly. We were all a little confused by Turner having such a hot friend but apparently such an occurrence isn’t that awkward and Matt Turner is a lot cooler than anyone ever imagined. Either way, I love him and Elizabeth was perfect. She nailed all her lines, didn’t take an hour to memorize an entire scene (cough, Walters, cough) was hot, and wasn’t creeped out by the script or any of the horrible things I’m sure we said during the day. Hell, before things were over she was even making fun of Walters with the rest of us. We got tons of stuff filmed and it actually seems like we’re going to finish this.

Now onto the funny part. So we were up at the park filming one of the last scenes in the movie which involves guns. We had our fake guns with us and some of the locals thought it would be a hoot to call the police on us. So we’re in the middle of a scene and two police cars come flying though the park. At first they were pretty bitchy, but then they explained to us what had happened and made sure to point out that it wasn’t really a big deal and they just had to make a show of things to please all the people who had nothing better to do on a Sunday. They were nice after that and chatted about our movie and then left. We were all kinda dumbstruck for awhile after that and then we realized how hilarious it all was. I’d point to my post about fake guns that I wrote before but I’m too lazy. People rock.

Oh yes. I should also point out that at one point in time during the day I was running to my car because we forgot something and I tripped and fell. It hurt a lot.

After filming wrapped for the day we had our traditional Shields dinner and it was awesome, as always. Hopefully we’ll be able to finish things up this Sunday and then everyone will be happy. Stank worked on the editing after we got back from dinner and we are probably about halfway done with things. It should be nice.

Some other stuff happened as well but I’ve really become lazy with the writing so this shall be all.
