This entry is long overdue. I can’t tell if the past week has been incredibly boring or slightly exciting, but either way, I’ve had enough random events to warrant an update. I’ll probably leave things out as that’s the thing to do, but as I am writing this it seems to be really interesting and entertaining.

I guess I should start with last week. I saw I, Robot on Sunday, and never felt the need to post about it because I thought Eric might make fun of me. Turns out, it was actually a decent movie. Cheesy Sci-Fi, but cheesy Sci-Fi that you can enjoy. I must admit, I am fond of people flying through the air with guns drawn, shooting at various things. Especially if these people happen to be Will Smith. He can make a string of cheesy sci-fi flicks and I will love every one of them. Also, Alan Tudyk makes my heart swoon, even if he’s just voicing a creepy robot.

And this is where my mind starts to blank out a little bit. I’m sure there are things that happened on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, but I can hardly remember them. I don’t think I really went out at all, being boring and tired all the time, but that’s not to say that the days passed without incident. I know I finished The Gunslinger at some point in time, which filled me with the desire for a trip to Borders to fill myself up on new works of literature to consume. I never managed to get passed the first five chapters of A Farewell to Arms, mostly because Kyle is a stupid poove and filled my heart with hatred of Hemingway before I even gave the book a chance.

So, for the sake of this entry, let us assume the only thing of interest that I did on Monday-Wednesday, was slay a giant dragon, save a small village from the dragon’s torment, fall in love with a farmer’s daughter from said village, and suddenly depart in the middle of the night leaving her heartbroken for no apparent reason other to fulfill my own sadistic desires.

After that adventure, there was the aforementioned trip to Borders. Accompanying me on this journey were Gayle and Justin. I purchased the next two books in The Dark Tower series, The Drawing of the Three and The Waste Lands. I figured that would make the time between Borders visits more tolerable. The entire time I was at the bookstore, I was having a conversation with Kyle via text message and he told me to pick up Wonderboys by Michael Chabon in addition to my Dark Tower shit. I almost did, but it was like 14 bucks and I wasn’t willing to shell out that much extra dosh. So, I was roaming around and saw another Michael Chabon book on the summer reading rack. It was called Summerland and apparently it’s for kids. But it’s pretty thick, and I doubt a kid would read anything with that many pages unless it was about a certain boy wizard. So Kyle can fuck off.

Gayle bought some books by this girl that is a huge nerd. I’m going to read them as soon as she’s done. Justin bought a book about Stalin and Hitler and I think it is safe to assume that I will never read that.

Friday came and I napped. Eric and I went for a hang out which took us to many places. These include, Wendy’s, Clawson Park, Oakland University, Rochester Hills, and Meijers. We spent a great deal of time at Meijers looking at board games and toys. Eric decided that he need a giant bucket of Legos, which he purchased. On the way out we spotted a pack of Marvel HeroClix. We examined them a bit, decided the game would be worth playing, and bought myself a started kit. After that Eric took me home and I learned to play the game. It’s basically a combination of miniature games and CCGs. I think it has the potential to become as addicting as Yu-Gi-Oh, especially as most of friends enjoy the Marvel Universe quite a bit more than shitty anime designed to sell booster packs. I want to play and I want to play soon.

Today some evil people came to my house to install a new bathtub. I don’t know why we needed a new bathtub, but because of this we weren’t allowed to use the water or the bathroom at my house. So, the vast majority of my afternoon was spent at my grandparents house, reading and relaxing. I got some quality time in with The Drawing of the Three and ate some cake.

While I was lazily laying around with my book, my grandpa came in to talk. I’ve always been his favorite as I am the only grandson he has, but as I’ve become more of a dick with age, I don’t really do anything to deserve the favorite status. He talked about some things for awhile, and I wasn’t really paying attention. But then he left the room and returned with a gun and that was certainly enough to seize my attention.

It was a German pistol he had returned home with from the time he spent in World War II. It was a .38 Caliber something or other. Not exactly sure what kind but Justin thinks it might have been a Walther. He had the holster, a clip full of ammo, a knife, and all the original papers. He let me play with the gun (sans clip, of course) and it was very awesome. I’ve never held a real gun before in my life, instead settling for the toy variety. I’m not ashamed to admit that I am a wee bit fascinated as far as violence is concerned, and holding a real gun in my hand for the first time was a pretty exciting moment for me. I don’t know what it is, but just the weight of the weapon made me feel incredibly powerful. I want to go out and shoot things now. Not people or even animals, I’m not crazy. Just something at a shooting range. Paper targets or life size replicas of Storm Troopers. I don’t care.

Speaking of Storm Troopers, Revenge of the Sith. How cool is that? Especially knowing that the original title of Return of the Jedi was Revenge of the Jedi. It sends shivers down the fanboy’s spine.

Oh, before I go, I made a Global Combat game the other day. I wanted people to join but then I forgot to tell people about it. It’s nothing special and has a 24 hour time limit so that we can just take turns whenever. Once or twice a day at most. Game number is 169388 and the password is 664929. Go join, please.
