I am finally back in my skin, after two days of driving and one day of crashing! Today I filled an order for the Vegas BBW Bash. Yay!!!!
Preparing to sell at an event is a big deal...you sew, you design, you create, you agonize....it is difficult, and then 16 hours of driving, in two days, and you are there, bleary eyed , but there.
After the fashion show, where the lovely models did me right...I set up to sell. It was a wonderful experience. I had a lovely and terrific helper, and great feedback and lots of sales. I may have a costume project, which I am very excited about. My new kitchen slut aprons were a hit, and the ruffle hot pants were a running hit.
I had great conversations in the soaking tub,at my booth and a swim in the morning and before I knew it it was over. I met new friends, there was a greater queer presence and fabulous people. I made a point to get out of the hotel and eat pupusas ( scarce in PDX, plentiful in LA)
It is great to connect with the community at large and to remember why I want to make clothing that are not manufactured, not mass produced and not a part of the mainstream.
