Leaving

They needed the sword as soon as possible. Alright, fine. Axel could get them the sword as soon as possible that was almost… Going to be fun.

He hated not being able to tell people where he was going - but if this was as interconnected as he was assuming? A whisper could make this a helluva lot harder.

He’d just try and let them know - carefully what was going on with him. Though… For right now? What was going on with him was shopping.

Everything was at Owen’s and he wasn’t planning on heading back there any time soon. Yes, eventually the piano was a must. It’s was Luke’s piano after all. There were things that needed to be done - in some semblance of an order and dwelling on the events of last night were not one of them.

He’d walked away, kept walking, kept flying and running until he’d been on the far side of Central where he’d found a 24-hour coffee shop and then he’d sat letting his cocoa go cold until dawn finally made yesterday the past and today he had things to do.

Shopping.

He had the cash - clothes were a minor necessity, he needed only a little but he wasn’t going to be running around in his costume when he was trying to be subtle. The mall worked for the look of the culturally bored and universal teenager. Toys were far more of a necessity. How long Roscoe would take on the psi-baffles was a little hitch in his plan but he was hopping to send Bart by to get them once they’d been made. That way the journey could go onward and he wouldn’t be cooling his heels while recon needed to be done.

Toys was done the old-fashioned way - a way he’d thought he’d abandoned. Breaking into Papa’s would have been simple, except for the booby traps and Axel had always wanted a polka dotted arm really. Raiding Papa’s supply was easy enough and taking a few things. He had done this before after all and what sort of bambino would he be if he didn’t borrow things without asking? He left a note on the counter though simply reading:

Papa - Owen and I broke up? Need a few days off, back midweek. Won’t get into danger - have cell.      -Bambino

The note was an uncomfortable half-truth though Axel’s first order of business was quite to just let his mind numb out before this mess really started.

Clothes. Toys.

Charlie.

He called and cancelled his appointment - accepting the charged fee anyway. He didn’t want to be psycho-analyzed right now he wanted…

He wanted…?

He texted Bart a quick message for a mission Monday morning and to clear his schedule.

Speedster running could get them there quickly Axel was still considering flying for the excuse of ‘I’ve got a plane to catch’ on anyone who stopped him.

Five minutes later and $2613.00 poorer Axel was booked on the Monday morning one way flight to Munich. With two extra stops on the trip Cincinnati, Oh and Paris, France. Not bad. Ohio would be pretty boring. It was only a little under an hour of a break, enough time to stuff his face with chili and get back on the plane. Paris for almost six hours sounded… Fun.

Then Germany… but first?

First Gotham. His flight would be leaving from there after all.

Flipping out his cell-phone he dialed Darlene shifting from foot to foot.

Gotham.

Numb.

He could do that.
