Day 14: Where You Live.

I live in a one-story, three bedroom house on the side of a hill near the woods in between the unincorporated communities of Hinkleville and Adrian in Upshur County, West Virginia. I live 4 miles outside of the town I grew up in -- Buckhannon. Buckhannon is a small town and has received honors for being one of the best small towns to live in in America. Current day Buckhannon was the first permanent settlement between Fort Pitt and the Gulf of Mexico. There are more people living in Upshur County than in the city limits. My graduating class, from the county's only high school, had 266 people in it. Buckhannon has WV Route 20 running through it and US Route 33. We are 35 minutes south of Clarksburg, an hour and 10 minutes south of Morgantown and 2.5 hours south of Pittsburgh, PA. We are 5 hours from Washington DC, though, once they finish the four-lane, it'll only take 2.5. We are about 4 hours southeast of Columbus, OH. West Virginia is surrounded by Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and Kentucky. Where is I live is closest to Pennsylvania. It takes me about 4 hours to get to Virginia. So, when those myriad of fucktards ask me if what part of Western Virginia I'm from and if it's near Richmond, I want to bitchslap them. Not only has West Virginia been its own state since 1863, but I'm five hours from Richmond. ;) I consider myself lucky to see mountains, rolling hills and hardly any flat land at all. Trees, rocks, river, waterfalls and caves, rather than cornfields for miles. I try to tell my son every time we take him somewhere to enjoy the scenery because we're lucky we live somewhere that is so beautiful. So many people will never experience a 15-mile-per-hour turn. ;)
