A Death in the Family.

Peter Steele January 4, 1962-April 14, 2010

I'm not so much an unlikely fan of Type O Negative and Peter Steele as I am an understated one. I'm the one in the corner, giggling at the hoards who take everything Pete ever said literally and not as it was meant to be understood.

I first heard Type O Negative in high school, at the beginning of I Know What You Did Last Summer of all places. I didn't know who they were, but I knew I liked the overstated gloominess and the deep tones of that voice. Years later, I would grow fonder of both. TJ and I would giggle at the persona that was Peter Steele to those who didn't quite get his sense of humor. We mimicked because we loved him and all of the cheesiness. The first interview of Peter I ever saw was perfect. It made me really love him as a person because he would be an asshole just because. He would mess with whoever he was talking to just because he could. I liked him as part of, what he described as, four dead trees.

I'll leave this with my favorite Type O Negative song ever. This sexy, blasphemes tale of a woman who wanted to feel her god deep inside of her.

Forgive her, for she knows
not what she does....

A cross upon her bedroom wall
From grace she will fall
An image burning in her mind
And between her thighs

A dying God-man full of pain
When will you come again?
Before him beg to serve or please
On your back or knees
There's no forgiveness for her sins
Prefers punishment?
Would you suffer eternally
Or internally?

For her lust
She'll burn in hell
Her soul done medium well
All through mass manual stimulation
Salvation

Corpus Christi
She needs
Corpus Christi
Corpus Christi

Corpus Christi
See needs
Corpus Christi
Corpus Christi
Body of Christ
She needs
Body of Christ
Body of Christ

To Love God
She'd like to know God
Ooh love God
Feel her God
Inside of her
Deep inside of her
J.C. Looks Like Me
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ looks like me

Rest in peace.

How is it that only one person on my list even mentioned this?

celebrity deaths, music, videos, sad times
