Goodbye English rose;
I hope I grew through your heart.
I hope I placed myself
where lives were torn apart.
I called out to our country,
and I whispered to those in pain.
Now I belong to heaven,
and the stars spell out my name.

And it seems to me I lived my life
like a candle in the wind:
never fading with the sunset
when the rain set in.
And my footsteps will always fall here,
among Ireland's greenest hills;
my candle's burned out long before
my legend ever will.

Loveliness you've lost;
these empty days without your smile.
This torch you'll always carry
for your nation's golden child.
And even though you try,
the truth brings you to tears;
all your words cannot express
the joy I brought you through the years.

Goodbye English rose,
from a country lost without my soul,
who'll miss the wings of my compassion
more than I'll ever know.

I hope you get the picture. If you don't, Goodbye.
It won't kill you to comment.
