Back from England!

The weather, as expected, was cold and wet and miserable, but it was a nice relaxing trip. I managed not to starve, and mostly catch up on sleep. In the end, I spent the entire time sleeping on the couch cushions in the middle of my Aunt's living room, which was a step up, in my opinion, from sleeping in a bed at my cousin's house - around the wall from any number from 1 to 3 screaming toddlers.

We managed to see all of the extended family that we usually visit (barring my cousin's 12 year old, who "turned into a hideous beast and was locked in her room until she became human again" - but I saw her in September, when she hadn't tried to play her parents off against each other in order to gain permission for a belly button ring). Unfortunately, we saw my Great-uncle 4 days before he succumbed to cancer, but at least we can say that he went fairly quickly and not in much pain.

I brought back 8 tonnes of chocolate, although most of it has to go to my sister-in-law when they return (she went over the weight allowance). Also ate far too much birthday cake last week - given that there are only 19 people in my extended family (my family, aunts, uncles, cousins and their children), it does seem a bit ridiculous that 4 of them have birthday's between the 11 and 13th of November. However, all the different cakes were good, so I won't complain any more.

In other news, I cooked dinner. As in, a vegetable (cabbage), and mince meat - with onions! Three whole ingredients (well, plus salt and bisto and broth). I do cook properly sometimes, but it's always something for me to be proud of when I don't get bored and burn it. Plus, it tasted *almost* like what Dad makes, so go me! And now I have leftovers for tomorrow.
